Prof. dr. Martijn J. van den Assem is a Professor of Finance at Vrije Universiteit (VU) Amsterdam, the Netherlands. His area of expertise is Financial Judgment and Decision Making, or “Behavioral Finance”. He has published in the world’s best academic journals in Management and Economics, including the American Economic Review, Nature Human Behaviour, Management Science, and the Review of Economics and Statistics. Three of his papers are joint work with the 2017 Nobel Prize in Economics winner, Richard Thaler. Martijn van den Assem teaches Behavioral Finance for BSc, MSc, PhD and post-graduate programmes, serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, and is one of the initiators and organizers of the biennial Research in Behavioral Finance Conference series.
